In reach through forgiveness is the only unified way forward. I continue to pray over Dr. Keller’s work. Blessings.

Can I forgive her in my heart? Sure, because she is a sinner like myself. However, even though I met with her and two elders, nothing came of it. Btw, in Japan we are really short of pastors; and she happened to be a pastor and the wife of a pastor, who was ill at the time. I am hoping she will open up and talk about it but feel like I’ve done all I can at this point.

It was a really bizarre situation, being unable to study the Scriptures with a group headed by an elder. I realized how painfully little the elders knew the Word. The pastor never took the time to inquire into our activity before condemning it.

And ironically, the pastor in question began teaching the Scriptures on weekdays for those interested, imperfectly - asking for opinions instead of clearly using Scripture to interpret Scripture. I have a little more background in Jewish custom than my Japanese friends, so I took on the responsibility and opened Luke. Then one day the elder told me we had to stop. The reason for the stoppage was basically because the study was held outside the church building in a community. At the same time, my husband had been

Whoops - pressed the wrong button - the way it happened was, the four of us, two believers and two non-believers were reading Rick Warren’s The Purpose-Driven Life together. The other Christian besides myself was an elder, btw. However, the material was extremely challenging for the unbelievers; so I finally suggested that we study the Scriptures together. The elder agreed but hesitated to lead. So I said I would write up some questions and try to guide the process. Now, I am only a lay person,

This is a pretty interesting issue for me. I left a church almost a year ago now because the pastor would not allow a small group Bible study.
