Knowing God
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. This is a theme that runs all through Proverbs and, in fact, all through the whole Bible. It’s obvious the term fear of the Lord is something that is a summary of everything we’re supposed to do and be.
So why is it so important and what in the world is it? Looking at these passages of Proverbs, I’m going to tell you that the fear of the Lord is beginning with God, knowing God, trusting God, and discovering the grace of God.
This sermon was preached by Rev. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on October 10, 2004. Series "Proverbs: True Wisdom for Living". Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6; 9:10; 16:6; 19:23; 20:9; 23:17-18; 28:14.
